SwissTalk — Privacy Policy

SwissTalk ("the app", "we") is a language-learning service for German, French and Italian, available on the web and as an Android app. This policy explains what data we process, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the SwissTalk Android app and the SwissTalk web app.

1. Data we collect

• Account data: your e-mail address and a password (stored as a secure hash), used to create and sign in to your account.
• Learning activity: lesson progress, exercise results, XP, streaks and language preferences, so the app can track your progress.
• Subscription status: your plan (Basic, Plus or Pro) and its renewal state. Payments are processed by our payment providers — Stripe (web) or Google Play (Android). We never see or store your card details.
• AI feature input: when you use the AI Tutor or AI Speaking features, the text you type or the audio you speak is sent to our AI processing providers to generate a response. Audio is processed transiently to produce a transcription and is not used to build a voice profile.

2. What we do NOT do

• We do not sell your personal data.
• We do not show third-party advertising and we do not share your data with advertisers.
• We do not use your data to train AI models.

3. Service providers

We use a small number of processors to run the service: Supabase (database, authentication and hosting of user data), Vercel (application hosting), Stripe (web payments), Google Play (Android payments) and AI inference providers for the tutor/speaking features. Each provider receives only the data needed to perform its function.

4. Data retention & deletion

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time — see Delete my account. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days.

5. Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to production data is restricted and authenticated. Passwords are stored only as cryptographic hashes.

6. Children

SwissTalk is intended for adults (18+). The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
